Les Bains Hotel Design in Le Marais, Paris
Once a private bathhouse for the likes of Marcel Proust, a hotspot for the Bohemians of the Belle Époque, and a famed nightclub where Jagger and Bowie romped, Les Bains is gloriously back—this time, as a boutique hotel in Paris’ Le Marais neighborhood.
Les Bains is both an homage to the heritage of its storied past and a bold new take on Parisian hospitality. Thanks to the outstanding joint work of the architects and designers Vincent Bastie, Tristan Auer, and Denis Montel, the property shines as a vibrant, connected, international clubhouse and hotel, which includes a restaurant, a bar, a private lounge, a club, guest rooms, and suites.
Set at 7 Rue du Bourg L’Abbé, a jewel of the historic third arrondissement, the property is ideally ensconced in Paris’ old aristocratic district, a trove of atmospheric streets and architectural splendors.

Architecture of the Les Bains Hotel, Paris
The building that houses Les Bains is a Haussmannian masterpiece. Thus prize-winning architect Vincent Bastie used his vast experience and deep respect for the structure’s creative roots to reinvent space in a daring way. His was a radical reconfiguring of the building that amplified its volumes, while respecting its history and its grand façade.
At Les Bains, a bar is as much a social and creative gathering place as it is a brilliant display of architectural daring. Ceilings curve, walls disappear into darkness, and lights reflect off surfaces that not only create mood but seem to bend time.

Interior Design of the Les Bains Hotel, Paris
For the interiors, Les Bains tapped designers Tristan Auer and Denis Montel. Auer, who designed the hotel’s 39 rooms and suites, recently was named “one of ten best contemporary interior designers, stars of tomorrow” by Architectural Digest. Montel, who is responsible for the chic French look found in Hermes boutiques around the world, is the man behind Les Bains’ ground-floor restaurant/salon.
Perhaps Les Bains’ greatest achievement is its ability to present spaces that create vastly different moods. Guestrooms are exercises in sleek comfort that feel both inviting and intensely personal. Public spaces inspire rousing conversation or even new romance. And the spa is an ethereal experience of relaxation and wonder.
