Hay Nelson Cigar Bubble Pendant Lamp by George Nelson for Herman Miller in the 1950’s
The Nelson Cigar Bubble pendant’s rounded silhouette is created by spraying a translucent plastic polymer over a steel-wire frame, allowing it to emit a soft, diffused light that creates an inviting atmosphere to any room. The pendant is a stylish illuminator suited for various spaces in homes, cafes and offices.
Nelson Cigar Bubble is part of a lighting series designed by George Nelson and produced by Herman Miller in the 1950’s. Nelson wanted to purchase a similar Swedish lamp made of silk, but instead, opted for designing his own version of the pendant to save time and money. The lamps in the collection are still manufactured at the same factory that originally started manufacturing them in 1952.
