
Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola is behind the first new hotel to be built on the shores of Italy‘s Lake Como in decades.
Urquiola was involved in nearly every aspect of the design for the Boutique Hotel Il Sereno, from its architecture and bedroom furnishings to its staff uniforms and private boats.

Spanish Architect and Designer Patricia Urquiola
The Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola (b. 1961) lives and works in Milan. In 1991 Urquiola began working for the furniture company De Padova in Milan, where she also designed her first furnitures. Between the years 1996 and 2000 she was the manager of Lissoni Associati Design Group and in 2001 she opened her own studio in Milan, where she focuses on product design and architecture. Urquiola has won several design awards and done many projects with various design companies, for example Kartell and Alessi.
